WELCOME TO Renee Nicole’s Kitchen
Cook Beyond the Recipe.
Ten years of original recipes built on one idea: understanding why a recipe works makes you a better cook than following it ever will.
About Renee Nicole’s Kitchen
I launched Renee Nicole’s Kitchen in 2015 with one goal: to teach people how to actually cook — not just follow a recipe, but understand it well enough that you can cook beyond it. Missing an ingredient, running short on time, or making a dish for the first time shouldn’t send you into a panic. It should be a chance to problem-solve.
Here’s what I believe: food should be real, seasonal, and worth the effort. The healthiest diet is the one you cook for yourself — real ingredients, turned into something you genuinely want to eat. I use real sugar, full-fat dairy, and occasionally wine or bourbon. You’ll find honest food here, no unnecessary additives, no artificial sweeteners, and no pretending one ingredient is secretly another.
My cooking is shaped by technique more than anything else. Understanding why a recipe works — the science behind the sear, why the acid goes in last, what resting your meat actually does — is what turns a competent cook into a confident one. That’s what I’m teaching here. Every recipe comes with the context to help you make it yours.
I draw my standards from Food & Wine, Bon Appétit, old Gourmet magazines, and Serious Eats. But my inspiration comes from real life: the weeknights when dinner needs to happen in thirty minutes, the Sundays when you have time to enjoy the process, and the moments when a really good meal makes everything feel a little better.
If you want the behind-the-scenes — the stories behind the recipes, what I’m cooking for my family, the stuff that doesn’t fit in a recipe post — that’s what the Sunday Spotlight newsletter is for. That’s where the real conversation happens.
Great food and Great company are two of life’s greatest pleasures
The Team
Running a food blog looks like a one-person show from the outside, but it takes more hands than you’d think to keep everything running. Here’s who makes Renee Nicole’s Kitchen possible:
Kristy, Karen, and Gian — the behind-the-scenes team who keep this place from falling apart while I’m busy burning things in the kitchen.
And then there’s you. The readers who actually cook these recipes, who let me know when something works or needs tweaking, who keep showing up week after week. This whole thing only works because you’re here. Thank you for that.
